NI also said they could if need be give me an old install of kontakt 5 that will work on 10.6.8 once I have upgraded that is. I will add NI were friendly and helpful in acknowledging my issues, so i guess that has to account for something. Regarding this I will contact NI again tomorrow, to see if this can be solved. I sure don't believe in software developers like I use to. I am not surprised really today never went through. Since moving away all I seem to have had is moot issues and coupled with past update of the PLAY engine occurrence, resulting in messing my system up some time back not recovered from that. I cannot try Pacifist yet with Kontakt 5, as I still have to order, I tried to order the upgrade of Kontakt 5 but no luck problems happened today. I didn't know problems can occur with compatibility, this seems like another problem I really don't want to have to deal with. Might work, might not work, I don't know.Ĭheers re-peat that is awesome advice, yeah that was the thing I heard you say, Pacifist, that seems like a great tool. I haven't tried any of this with the other NI software-updates which supposedly need 10.7 or upwards though. Been working this way with K5.3 for several weeks now, loading both older libraries and very recent ones, and I haven't noticed anything even slightly worrying. On the plus side: you don't have to leave Snow Leopard behind (hurray!), and Kontakt 5.3 works just as well as 5.2 does in that OS (which doesn't seem to be the case in Mavericks). The only thing you will no longer have access to, is the standalone version of Kontakt (although K5.2 will still open in standalone mode), but I don't consider that a much of a loss as I never used it anyway. And you also avoid the risk of loosing library activations which, I gather, sometimes occured when - and this is the other work-around for the incompatibility problem - installing K5.3 on a 10.7-or-upwards machine first and then dragging the installation to your 10.6.8 machine. The trouble starts when you want to go to Kontakt 5.3 (which is what you need for libraries like Berlin Strings and Cinesamples' strings), because, as you know, the K5.3 installer doesn't work in 10.6.8.įortunately, there's a simple solution: (1) download the Kontakt 5.3 installer and also download a little utility called 'Pacifist' ( ) (2) open the Kontakt installer-file in Pacifist and extract the AU-component, (3) put the AU-component in your 'Components'-folder. You know what comes to mind with everything.Īnything up to Kontakt 5.2 is not a problem on 10.6.8. It was not like this before now this never ends always a constant fight, I am always outdated!!!?. Please, has someone got Kontakt 5 and Cubase 7 working in Snow leopard, if so how? I don't want to take that chance if i can avoid it. I might update a New OS and everything breaks I can't have that. Is there no other option? I will try and ring Native instruments and Steinberg soonĢ0 euros I would be willing to part with for a new OSX though that is not what I fear. My worry is does boot camp get wiped when installing a new OSX in a mac? If I have to go that route which one to choose? Which one is more reliable? How stable is Lion and Mountain Lion with Kontakt 5 and cubase 7? I would prefer to stay in snow leopard IT WORKS why do I need a new OS if there is no new MAJOR changes in the OS that effect me?ĭoes boot camp work with windows 7 in Lion and Mountain Lion. Okay thanks for the reply newtonbach, so I have to upgrade to lion mountain lion OSX? I heard one say use pacifist, what would one recommend do. I have no idea how to install something that is not compatible with the OS one is using. Can anyone help here? I wonder in Native instrument people and Steinberg help me if I call. I need to talk to someone about this that can help me get through these problems. Today I tried to update some kontakt 4 instruments via service centre but it could not update because it was not 10.7 ? what is going on.Īlso today I found out I cannot upgrade to cubase 7 from 6 because I am on snow leopard WHY ARE Companies doing this? Snow leopard is old but still this is wrong, I know mavericks is free 10.9 to upgrade but I also do level design and 3D modelling I am creating my own level and i use windows on my MAC via bootcamp for that and with mavericks, windows 7 under mavericks will NOT work. Can someone help me understand how one can get Kontakt 5 to work in snow leopard? I am/was looking to upgrade from Kontakt 4 to 5 but I have just found out that kontakt 5 only works on 10.7. I have not been able to upgrade due to this world. Hi, I use Kontakt 4 on a mac OSX 10.6.8 system.
